Our vision is to provide a Christ-centered education that strives to partner with parents, families, and extended families in the nurturing of God’s inheritance.

The mission of San Luis Obispo Christian School is to glorify God by providing a Christ-centered education, promoting excellence, nurture and balance; we endeavor to make each child complete in Christ, in intellectual, social, physical, and spiritual stature, thereby laying a foundation for them to impact our world for eternity.

SLOCS is committed to accomplishing this mission through:

  1. Making Disciples
  2. Developing Scholars
  3. Building Community

“Making disciples, developing scholars, and building community, all for the glory of God”

SLOCS Philosophy

The Lord Jesus Christ is preeminent in all things, including the school and the family. Christian education is the process whereby students learn to see things as God sees them by making known and learning God’s truth.  Through this educational process, students develop a Christian world and life view.  Education is God’s way of nurturing each individual in the fullness of the image of Christ.  It is modeled after His own relationship to man: revealing truth, and instructing and equipping man for communion with Him.  Education is both the nature and process of communicating truth, and the result of having learned it.  Without the clear direction of God’s Word, the Bible, man is unable to comprehend or evaluate what is true and what is false.  Therefore, the educational philosophy at SLOCS is based on the authority, authenticity, and reliability of the Bible as the complete and final revelation of God concerning all matters of faith, truth, and practice.

The primary goal of SLOCS is to make the student complete in Christ, academically, mentally, socially, spiritually, and physically.

We see the child as inseparable from his or her family, and God has entrusted the responsibility of training children to them, as is clearly ordained in the Bible.  (“You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.”  Deut. 6:7).  For this reason, we believe it is the parents who are responsible for the education of their children. SLOCS serves as an extension of the Christian family, existing to support parents in their responsibility before God to enable each child to develop his or her academic potential.  While SLOCS offers professional assistance in the subject areas and reinforces Christian principles, the parents are ultimately responsible for a child’s training.  SLOCS exists, therefore, to fulfill its vision of partnering with parents, families, and extended families in the nurturing of God’s inheritance.

San Luis Obispo Christian School is an educational program designed for the families of San Luis Obispo County, and welcomes those who support our Statements of Beliefs, Vision and Mission Statements, and School Philosophy.
