About Us

General

San Luis Obispo Christian School (SLOCS) was established in 1993 by a small group of families from Vineyard Church who gathered together to form a home school co-op. The school met two (2) days a week at a location on Lizzie Street and moved to its present site at the Family Christian Center (FCC) in 1997.

SLOCS has since become an independent, non-profit Christian school; the only nondenominational Christian school in San Luis Obispo. SLOCS offers full-time academics for K-6 grades, and part-time enrichment classes for homeschooled junior high school students. The primary purpose of SLOCS is to serve San Luis Obispo and the surrounding area by partnering with parents to raise children with Christian foundations that will last a lifetime and provide them with the highest academic standards available.

SLOCS joins with parents in working together to prepare children for a lifetime of learning and to encourage childrens' spiritual, intellectual, social, and emotional growth.

Mission

The mission of San Luis Obispo Christian School is to glorify God by providing a quality educational experience for children in the San Luis Obispo County community that is uniquely Christian in its approach, values, methods, and philosophy. We are committed to providing a Christ-centered education, promoting excellence and balance in intellectual, physical, and spiritual stature that prepares students for the future. SLOCS is committed to accomplishing this mission through:

Academic Excellence

Believing and Teaching Truth

Changing Lives Through Jesus Christ

Developing a Community of Partnerships

Ensuring a Christ-Centered Environment

Vision

SLOCS recognizes the great need of providing a Christ-centered educational alternative and strives to partner with parents, families, and extended families in the nurturing of God's inheritance.

Goal

As a result of the ministry of SLOCS, students will develop a God-centered worldview with the ability to apply Biblical principles to everyday decisions.

Statement of Faith

Each member of the School Board and staff, having accepted Jesus Christ as personal Savior, shall subscribe to the following Statement of Faith:

We believe in one triune God who exists in three persons...the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19)

We believe in the full humanity and deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His substitutional atonement, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory. (John 1:14-18; 2 Corinthians 5:21, 15:3-6)

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Third Person of the Trinity, who among his various ministries regenerates, sanctifies, guides, and empowers through his gift to all believers. (1 Corinthians 12:4-11; Galatians 5:16-23; Titus 3:5)

We believe that the Bible is the inspired, infallible word of God and that it is our guide for faith and practice. (2 Timothy 3:16, 17)

We believe that all men and women are sinners and can only be justified by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. (Matthew 28:19, 20; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26; Ephesians 2:8)

We believe in water baptism and an open communion table for all believers in our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 11:23-26)

We believe in the resurrection of all men and women to a final judgment; eternal blessing for the righteous and eternal punishment for the wicked. (Matthew 25:31-46)
