At SLOCS our utmost desire is to foster disciples of Jesus Christ. Our primary vocation and prayer is to see each student become:
- A child of God, a friend of Jesus, and a Temple of the Holy Spirit
- A Passionate worshipper
- Grounded in their true identity in Christ
- Transformed to walk in their calling through His power
- Equipped to show God's love in word and action
We believe these things are only possible through God's Spirit, which works in those who call Jesus their King. Our staff has been formed and our curriculum is designed to bring students to a place of knowing God and giving Him a place in their hearts.
At SLOCS we believe scholars are life-long learners - eager to solve new problems, re-evaluate situations, and refine their knowledge. SLOCS strives for an environment that grows a love for learning, fosters courage and creativity, and encourages discovering each child's God-given gifts, so that they may later enter a larger world fully equipped in both knowledge and wisdom.
A scholar is also someone who seeks to know God's creation. God created the complex systems of this world, filled it with life, and unveiled His rich story of redemption through its ages. God is a historian, scientist, and engineer - as evidenced in the awesome detail of His creation. By studying God's creation we learn more about God Himself - and what we uncover leads us to worship Him for His majesty.
SLOCS is a community of families who have been redeemed by Jesus Christ, and our hope is for you to feel welcome and a part of this community. Our Buddies program, Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), and Mom's in Touch (MIT) prayer group are examples of this community at work.
Our community also reaches outside the school walls, where students re-present God's love through service volunteering, nursing home visitations, Christmas caroling, and our "Adopt a Neighbor" program, whose aim is to build lasting relationships with neighbors and nearby business owners.
Prayer for the nations, an international program, and short term mission projects are also at the heart of SLOCS's global community focus.
